You never know exactly what you're going to get with Keiji Haino, and that's exactly what's made him such a powerful force in the Japanese underground for over half a century. With over 200 recordings and 2,000 live performances under his belt, he's inspired generations of adventurous artists, setting a high bar for experimental psychedelic music with his band Fushitsusha and constantly innovating and collaborating, branching into jazz, folk, noise, improv, drone and electronic music. His solo shows are particularly notorious and invariably unpredictable – it's hard to guess whether he'll be raiding an orchestra's arsenal, playing archaic traditional instruments, jamming on a table full of synths and drum machines or re-interpreting delicate, heartfelt ballads. And whatever's delivered, it's always utterly overwhelming. For Unsound Osaka, Keiji Haino will perform on Bachet Sound Sculptures created for the 1970 Osaka World Expo – and included in the Sakamoto seeing sound, hearing time exhibition.
